MyTherapy alternative: DrBell vs MyTherapy

We make DrBell, so read this as a comparison written by one side. It was put together on 16 October 2026 from MyTherapy's public Google Play listing and app description and from our own app, and it tries to be the page we would want to read if we were choosing. If something here about MyTherapy is wrong or out of date, write to hello@drbell.app and we will correct it.

In one paragraph. MyTherapy, from smartpatient in Germany, is free, calm, legible and very widely used: more than five million installs, a quarter of a million reviews, ISO 13485 and ISO 27001 on its listing, streaks, a monthly calendar, health trackers that feed Health Connect, and a web dashboard and PDF for the doctor. It is probably the most elder-friendly of the big reminder apps. What it does not do is ring like an alarm, show the strip, read an Indian prescription, or tell anybody when a dose is missed. Those four are what DrBell is built around.

Neither app is a doctor. Both remind you of what a doctor already prescribed; neither should ever be the reason a dose is changed.

What both do

Reminders several times a day or every so many hours, on chosen weekdays or every other day, with a start and an end date; Taken, Later and Skip; Taken: all for several medicines due at once; refill tracking with a warning before the strip runs out; appointments with reminders; several people in one account; a PDF report for the doctor, and a web page for the family (MyTherapy's web dashboard; DrBell's care.drbell.app); reminders that ring with no internet; unlimited medicines free, with no ads; a link the doctor can open (MyTherapy on the web; DrBell on the Plus plan, expiring after fourteen days).

What DrBell leaves out, and why

The trackers, the goals and the streak flame are decisions, not gaps. DrBell is a notebook and an alarm clock. A weight chart with a goal line is a conclusion drawn for the person; a flame that goes out when a dose is missed is a judgement. We would rather the app recorded what was pressed, showed the doctor the pattern, and left every conclusion to the people qualified to draw one. That is also why there are no health claims on this page: DrBell makes nobody healthier by itself.

Price

MyTherapy is free, with some in-app purchases. DrBell's Free plan has unlimited medicines, the photos and the alarm that keeps ringing, with no ads; being told when a dose is missed, the whole history and the doctor's link are on Plus, and Family adds more people in the house. Prices in your own currency are on the home page.

If you are choosing

Choose MyTherapy if you take your own medicines, like a streak and a calendar to keep you going, want your weight and blood pressure in the same app, or want a certified product from a European company.

Choose DrBell if the point is somebody else: a parent in another city whose phone has to ring like an alarm, show the strip, read the prescription as the doctor wrote it, and tell you when a dose is missed. Get it on Google Play, or read how to set a parent up from another city.

Also compared: DrBell and Medisafe.

DrBell is a reminder, not a doctor. It never suggests a medicine or a dose. MyTherapy is a trademark of its owner; this page describes its public listing and is not endorsed by it.
