Terms of Use
By using DrBell you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose.
1. What you are getting
A reminder service. See What DrBell is — it is short, and it is the most important page on this site. In particular: DrBell gives no medical advice and is not a medical device.
2. What you must do
- Enter what your doctor actually prescribed, not what you think it should
be.
- Keep your phone able to ring reminders. That means: notifications
allowed for DrBell; on Android, exact alarms allowed, DrBell exempt from battery optimisation, DrBell's reminder sound on, and the phone maker's autostart on where it has one; on iPhone, sounds on and the Ring/Silent switch on Ring around dose times. DrBell shows you each of these with steps when you set up, and again whenever one is off. On Android, DrBell will not open its main screen until they are all on.
- Tell us the truth when DrBell asks whether you have turned autostart on.
No phone lets an app check it, so your answer is what we record.
- Invite only people who should see the record. A caregiver invitation
gives a real person real access to someone's health information.
- Do not use DrBell as the only safeguard for a medicine where a missed
dose is dangerous.
3. What we will do
- Run the service with reasonable care.
- Tell you honestly when something failed, rather than quietly.
- Never sell your data.
- Give you everything we hold, on request, immediately.
- Delete everything we hold, on request, after 30 days.
4. What we cannot promise
Reminders can fail, and sometimes they will. A phone can be off, out of battery, out of signal, or have its notifications suppressed by the operating system — Android manufacturers are particularly aggressive about this, and we cannot override it. Networks fail. We fail.
We do not guarantee that any particular reminder will be delivered, and you must not rely on DrBell alone where that matters.
What we do instead is record, and tell. DrBell records whether your phone can ring reminders, with dates, and when it cannot — or when it stops checking in for a day — it tells you and the people who look after you, on the channels your plan allows. It cannot see: the iPhone Ring/Silent switch, a phone that is switched off before it can report, or Do Not Disturb settings on some phones.
5. Records are what was reported
Every record in DrBell — the daily summary, reports, shared reports and the full record — reflects what the person, their caregivers or an organisation's staff reported in the app, and what DrBell did. DrBell does not verify that a medicine was taken, and its records are not proof that it was, not a medical record, and not evidence of diagnosis, treatment or cure. You agree not to present them as such, and not to rely on them alone for any medical, clinical, insurance, employment or legal decision. See What DrBell is.
6. Accounts
Your phone number is your account. Keep access to it. If you change numbers, move your account before you give the old one up — we cannot recover an account whose number belongs to somebody else.
7. Paid plans
Prices and what each plan includes are on the pricing page. We will tell you before a price changes. See Refunds.
Where you buy a subscription through Apple's App Store or Google Play, their terms and their refund process apply to that purchase, not ours.
8. Organisations
If you use DrBell on behalf of a care home, hospital or similar, a separate agreement applies and the organisation is responsible for its own staff's access. An organisation cannot hold resident records until we have approved it.
9. Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. We may suspend an account that is being used to harass someone or to gain access to records that are not theirs.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
