What DrBell is, and what it is not

In effect from 2026-09-26 - Version 3

DrBell is a reminder app. It is not a doctor, a pharmacist, or a medical device, and it has no regulatory approval from any authority.

What it does

You, or someone caring for you, type in what a doctor has already prescribed: the medicine, the dose, and when to take it. DrBell then reminds you at those times, records what you tell it happened, and lets you share that record with the people you choose.

That is the whole product. It is a notebook and an alarm clock.

What it does not do

DrBell will never:

script and you would find another easier, you can add a second label yourself — but we will never do it for you, because a medicine name that has been "helpfully" converted may not be the medicine in the packet

when it happened. They do not say whether that is good or bad. That judgement belongs to your doctor, who knows things about you that we do not

If a screen in DrBell ever appears to be giving you medical advice, it is a bug. Please tell us at hello@drbell.app.

What DrBell's records are, and are not

DrBell keeps a record of reminders and of what people report: a dose marked "taken" means that someone — you, a caregiver, or a care home's staff — pressed Taken in the app or on a notification. DrBell cannot see whether a medicine was actually taken, in what amount, at what time, or whether it had any effect.

The daily summary, the adherence report, the report shared with a doctor and the full record you can download are therefore a log of what was reported and of what DrBell did (reminders, alerts, phone settings, time zones). They are not:

outcome of treatment.

They must not be relied on as the only basis for any medical, clinical, insurance, employment or legal decision. Share them with your doctor as a record of reminders and of what was reported, and let your doctor decide, using their own examination and tests, what they mean.

In an emergency

DrBell is not for emergencies. If someone has taken too much of a medicine, is having a reaction, or is unwell in a way that frightens you, call your local emergency number or go to a hospital. Do not wait for an app.

Reminders can fail. Phones run out of battery, lose signal, get switched off, and have their notifications silenced by the operating system. DrBell checks the settings it can, tells you and your caregivers when your phone cannot ring or stops checking in, and keeps a record — but it cannot see everything. Never rely on DrBell alone for a medicine where missing a dose is dangerous. Tell your doctor you are using a reminder app so they can tell you whether that is wise for your particular prescription.

Changing what your doctor told you

Do not change a dose, stop a course, or start something new because of anything you see in DrBell. Talk to the person who prescribed it.
